a chess-match with Rolando Bianchi
By: j | July 9th, 2008
To many transfer season brings the excitement of mega-stars of the game moving between clubs and this year is no exception with the added bonus of completely insane transfer prices being volleyed around. As fans sit on the edge of their seat waiting for news, the majority of movements begin to weave an intricate chess match of movements, each reacting off another.
As reported yesterday, Rolando Bianchi’s short stop at City was possibly nearing a conclusion with Serie A clubs Genoa and Torino voicing extensive interest. However this move became a great deal more complex with Torino, sneaking in to capture veteran Striker Nicola Amoruso from Reggina today.
The deal has massive implications with City as it most assuredly thwarts Rolando Bianchi moving to Torino but equally puts Reggina in the position of needing to fill the large shoes of Amoruso. City seems to be in the most unlikely of roles as not only has Rolando Bianchi commented in the past that he would welcome a return to Reggina but on-loan (newly relegated Parma of Serie B) Bernardo Corradi is said to be a target of the squad. Obviously the bargaining power of City to unload Rolando’s £9m contract has been reduced with Torino out the equation but it does make an interesting chess-match.
