

Criminal investigation of Robinho
By: j | January 27th, 2009The Associated Press has reported that Robinho was brought in for questioning with regards to a what the West Yorkshire Police termed as a “serious sexual assault.”
Reports are unclear if Robinho was arrested although a number of media sources are noting it as such. However in Mail, a spokesmen for West Yorkshire Police was quoted saying:
“Within the last hour I have been told that a man has been arrested and is being questioned in connection with the alleged incident in January at a nightclub in Leeds.
I can give no further details at the moment.”
On Robinho official web-site he denied any wrong doing and is cooperating with the investigation:
“denies any allegation of wrongdoing or criminality and is happy to cooperate with the police.
Robinhos spokesman , Chris Nathaniel, says:
“We can confirm that Robinho met the police today, as pre-arranged and as part of a criminal investigation”
“He strenously denies any allegation of wrongdoing or criminality and is happy to cooperate with the police if required further.”
Media reports are additionally noting how Robinho left Manchester City’s training camp in Tenerife without permission to return home to Brazil, right after the time of the assault citing a “family matter.”
