Kaká returns volley
By: j | January 14th, 2009Following Manchester City’s wooing of AC Milan star Kaká with the Citizens rumoured to be offering upwards of £100m on his transfer and with a weekly wage of £500k, the Brazilian maestro has pledged his loyalty to the Rossoneri.
Speaking to AC Milan’s owner Silvio Berlusconi television network Mediaset he said:
“I want to grow old at Milan.”
“My aim is to become at some point in the future the captain of this team.”
Should Kaká join Manchester City, it will unite him with Brazilian teammate Robinho who came to club from Real Madrid in the final moments of the summer transfer season. However should this occur, Kaká’s spokesperson Diogo Kotscho might not be so well-received by Robinho. Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Kotscho said:
“Kaka wouldn’t do anything based on money.”
“He would never do something like Robinho, who, just to earn more, contented himself with a solution that was not a winning one.”
In an interesting twist noted Football expert Gabrielle Marcotti told BBC Radio that City visit to Milan was to present an offer for goalkeeper Nelson Dida:
“As I understand it, they went to Milan supposedly under the ruse of talking about another player and in the course of the conversation they brought up Kaka and said they would be prepared to spend this much.”

I appreciate your opinions – thank you.
Do any of you see these comments as an effort to raise the price? I personally do not but the amounts of money being discussed are stunning.
Do any of you think the £500m wage rumour has truth?

i think there could be some truth to this, sure .. 500k a week is a steep amount of money but it seems the new owners want to purchase a winning team fast (like American Baseball) ..
fortunately (or unfortunately, whichever way you want to look at it) mega stars like Kaka don’t commonly jump from teams such as AC Milan to teams hovering above the relegation zone .. Robinho might be the exception to the rule but his caputre can also be used as bait ..
world class stars want to play with other world class stars so if Robinho is in the team, that could be incentive to join .. once they have a base of a few big name players, more could be persuaded to join resulting in a Galacticos sitution and theoretically moving City into a much, much higher position in the league table .. once their in that higher position, money will not longer be such a huge factor as the appeal for players to join will now be playing with other world class players and the possibility of winning something large ..
until that base is established, relatively speaking, wages of 500k a week would be used to intice stars ..
/end rant
