Mark Hughes to resign?
By: j | August 11th, 2008The meltdown continues and you can expect issues like this to be prominent in the news. The Sun quotes an unnamed City source:
“The club is falling apart and nobody knows how much longer Shinawatra will hang around.
“It feels as though we’re in meltdown and all Mark is trying to do is hang on to everything for the sake of the club.
“But if it carries on — and players are sold without his consent — he won’t stand any more. He’ll just walk.”
This article is not confirmed but from my sources, however the dire nature is not far from the truth. This shouldn’t be a surprised to Man City fans who watched Sven-Göran Eriksson treated without the slightest bit of common business decorum. Mr. Hughes was sold a bill of goods when coming here from Blackburn and the supposed vault has a strong echo in it. As discussed earlier this situation is a straight forward spiral down and will need competent business management to come-in and clean up a mess that the City fans are not deserving of.

Ugh. I wonder how far a fire sale would go? I don’t think it’s going to stop at Stephen Ireland and Vedran Corluka.

Richard – this isn’t like Leeds and I don’t we’ll see anything like the prolonged fall that happened there, which was simply dreadful. However what is going on internally may be much worse in many regards (please read through my links) and there is going to have to be a major overhaul. The league is going to have to show some leadership.
JoeJoeJoe – we’ll see if a fire sale happens. So far with Mark Hughes on-board, players have been convinced to stay. However younger players will be the target and if cash flow is challenged they will zeroed in on by clubs.

Rumors aren’t worth much but I read on BBC that Michael Johnson had turned down a contract from Man City and is now being pursued by Arsenal.
