oh please tell me he’s on the list

If you are finding the news of the transfer window grinding to a day at the beach, summer-slowdown, you are not alone. With Ronaldinho apparently turning down a contract twice the size of AC Milan’s, it appears Mark Hughes efforts to lure him to Man City are going to fall short. Equally Andrei Arshavin appears more likely to be plying his trade with Chelsea, given Barcelona is balking at his present club, Zenit St. Petersburg, £20m + transfer price. However the jury is still out on whether we can expect Bayern Munich’s Lukas Podolski to be wearing our colours. While Jürgen Klinsmann is eager to keep the twenty-three year old Striker in Munich, he is also said to be considering generous offers from Tottenham, Juventus and the sentimental favorite of the academy system he came up from, FC Köln. This situation will particularly weigh heavily in the decision to continue with Rolando Bianchi or move his hefty £9m contract.

Quite possibly the next major signing will be London born, Colin Kazim-Richards, also known as Kâzım Kâzım, who plays his current club Football at Fenerbahçe in Istanbul. After spending the ’06-07 season with Sheffield United he moved on to the Istanbul giant and has seen his game flourish and was notable playing for Turkey in the recent Euro Championships. The ₤4million transfer price is a bargain by today’s standards and numerous sources are claiming that his name will soon be on a City contract.

So lets think of this one a bit and pardon me if I get a bit touchy about this…so Ronaldinho and Andrei Arshavin seem to be giving us a resounding “no” (I suppose a “nyet” from Mr. Arshavin) and unless we really pull one out the fire young Mr. Podolski will do as well (ahem..I suspect a “nein” is appropriate now). However have we forgotten the brilliant young English capped Midfielder David Bentley who played for Mark at Blackburn? So please tell me, with all the talk of transfers, the obvious choice of David Bentley will become a top priority for Man City!
