On the injury front Manchester City will be without Mr. Martin Petrov and Michael Johnson is a doubtful and Armand Traore and John Utaka are expected out for Portsmouth.
The key to this match for City is the continued growth of Shaun Wright-Phillips,Stephen Ireland, Elano,Robinho and Jô learning to work together in the attack and improved defensive marking particularly as they deal with Jermaine Defoe and Peter Crouch. The City attacking force needs to start playing Football and stop worrying about adoring fans who think goal celebrations are sweet and charming even though you’re blown-out on your own pitch or make a team from Cyprus look like they are Premier League quality. When you’re paid big money, you have to produce and fuse is short. If the present players don’t understand that maybe they need to realize the front office is jockeying for position in January to upgrade virtually half the starting grid. Harsh? no, it’s reality and part of the entrance fee if you want to be one of the top tier.
I will report on the match as it concludes.
