So why no Bentley?
By: j | July 21st, 2008
This might be the oddest of posts and I suspect it is more of a question of our intent than a comment.
With Blackburn obviously coming to the bargaining table and waiting for the best offer, why have we not heard the slightest utterance of David Bentley coming to City, whilst Tottenham and Arsenal (am I the only one or doesn’t it appear that Arsene just wants to sign everyone) are definitely giving it their all. With his former Manager Mark Hughes now in-charge of Man City, you would assume we’d have the inside track on the young England International. His career blossomed under the tutelage of Sparky and while our Midfield has solid points to it, you certainly couldn’t say it wouldn’t benefit from the soon-to-be twenty-four year-old. Yet nothing, not a word, not a peep, nothing.
Of course the asking price seems a tad bit on the heavy side, reportedly in the £18m range but considering how grand a scale other targets have been, isn’t this the cost of doing business in the upper reaches of the Premier League? So maybe this post is actually a comment after-all because I would have assumed this would have been a natural link of one of England’s better young-players to make his way to Eastlands.
What’s your take on this? Do high of a price or do you sense something else?

Am I the only one who finds him incredibly over rated?
