this is what happens, part two

By: j | August 17th, 2008

Consider this the second in what I believe to an ongoing theme of ineptitude.

While I warned that return of Valeri Bojinov was premature and he was likely to suffer further injuries, it went unnoticed and today he was injured again. At present, given the club still cannot release appropriate medical information he is said to be out for six months but from my three decades in this sport, he is better served to plan on returning next pre-season. While earlier reports noted it as a “knee injury” it was later referenced as a torn Achilles, however the key factor is that he is not fully healthy and should not be forced back before ready. I apologize for my tone but I knew that injury was likely, whether it is his knee, continued stress on the hamstring or any other lower body injury and it is atrocious that he was cleared to play.

As a professional in this sport, I am more than aware that upper-management needs to be concerned about operations and establishing a true club as opposed to placing cute little crystals around the pitch. Along with the fugitive, this club needs professional front-office leadership, as it is painfully lacking.

I wish Valeri the very best in his recovery but I’ll be very honest, it is going to take quite a long time for him, if ever, to play to his potential. Patience will be a key and it cannot get rushed or he will suffer further injury. As a young player looking to get back into the action, his eagerness is expected but that is supposed to be tempered by mature professionals who understand the severity of the situation and not merely trying to squeeze the last ounce of claret from his body. This is an example of a club that does not have the appropriate infrastructure and for Valeri, it will likely cost him dearly, not simply how he plays when he returns but for the rest of his life.

For Footballs fans, who might be wondering what this has to do with the day-to-day play of Man City, please note other players become more than aware of this and begin to question why they would want to play with a club that is not only in disarray but have no idea of how to properly care for their best interests. Substantive facts stand on solid ground and this was an avoidable injury caused by poor management.

Sad to see he was rushed back, it seems scandalous to think this could have been avoided with another month or two of rehab and light training. This happened to me once with my ankle, and its never been the same since.

it’s disgusting and negligent. It could have been avoided.

I’m sorry to hear of your ankle. I’m going to send you an email regarding treatment -
