time for Ched Evans and Daniel Sturridge
By: j | July 22nd, 2008
It was revealed today that twenty-nine year-old Striker Benjani is believed to have ruptured a thigh (or hip) muscle in training today. With an MRI being conducted, the actual prognosis is yet to finalized however if it is an complete rupture it will be quite a lengthy recovery for the Zimbabwe International and we wouldn’t see him return to action at full speed till mid-fall.
And while the present trio of Strikers, Bernardo Corradi, Rolando Bianchi and Valeri Bojinov are likely sitting with their bags packed and passports in-hand, it is equally not the time to panic. Put away ridiculous ideas of a fool and get down to some Footy. The baptism of Ched Evans and Daniel Sturridge in the line of fire needs to be a priority and it needs to occur now. Certainly the acquisition of another capable Striker is important, particularly with new signing Jô off to the Olympics but the young Wales and England capped teens are ready, willing and very capable. Additionally with Mexican International Nery Castillo finally returning to health, this untapped source of inspiration and mercurial flourish can and should be used at Striker.
There is no need to panic, it is just time for a leader to lead; lead them Sparky.

Sturridge is an incredible talent, I have always been impressed when I have seen him play. He should get a chance to impress this year, if Hughes is smart.
