I’m convinced that if this deal goes down my good friend Musab of the Galatasaray will be very pleased. I’m alluding to the title of this post and Mark Hughes efforts to bring the Fenerbahçe’s wall of a ‘keeper Volkan Demirel to Manchester City.

With the whole Ronaldinho saga, oh-so finally laid to rest, our attention has turned to the superb twenty-six year old Turkish goalkeeper. With a transfer price of €10 m he would fit nicely into the general budget and with the loss of Andreas Isaksson to PSV is an absolute necessity.

Have you ever seen him play? If not, superb isnt the word to use. He makes more mistakes then Fabien Barthez on a good day. Stick with Joe Hart.

You think so? Every time I’ve seen him play, I think he has looked good and just needs some maturity. As it relates to Joe Hart - I agree and I was hopeful to see more of Kasper Schmeichel.

btw, exciting time for you at Real

Well Ive been watching Volkan since hes started playing and Ill tell you this much about him. He has made MANY mistakes with Fenerbahce (go to youtube and type Volkan and Schalke). In the 06/07 season he lost his place in the first tmea because he was apparently more interested in keeping his hair jelled together then jumping for the ball which might have damaaged his hair.

That being said, the 07/08 season was much better for Volkan. He made far less mistakes and most importantly, he shaved his head. However in the crucial derby match against Galatasaray which woul have determined the champion, he made another massive mistake that allowed GS to win 1-0.

Is he worthy of being Man City’s no. 1? No. Does he have potential? I would say so. Pricetag? 4 million Euros and nothing more.

Yes it is J. I am loving it, because I was so bored for the past 3 weeks. But yes, Hart and Schmeichel are a better bet long term then Volkan is, I would have thought that Mark Hughes would be able to see this.

Musab - good points although I think he has more promise. However now the debate(for you)is whether you want him to stay at Fenerbahçe - lol

Corey - I have no idea about that because honestly I expected Mark to make a heavier push earlier towards players that would build up the squat as opposed to the Ronaldinho and Arshavin situations. As it relates to Kasper, I am completely biased to be honest as he plays with the passion of his father. Whoever makes him there no 1 will benefit greatly.

Going to be a great season for Real - great interview btw today. Thank you for it.

I would much rather keep Hart than pay for this guy.
