when bad news gets worse
By: j | October 22nd, 2008The news couldn’t be any worse for City fans as Martin Petrov’s knee injury is likely to keep him out till the spring. Injured while on international duty with his native Bulgaria the injury will keep him out for approximately four months. Mark Hughes commented:
“He went to see a specialist on Monday and has now flown out to Spain to see the specialist who operated on his previously injured anterior cruciate ligament to have it checked out.”
“The news is that he has a tear in his meniscus that will have to be repaired. It is good news that it is not his ACL but it is still a bad injury and we will be without him for three or fourth months.”
No other details on the injury has been released which is sadly customary. Quite honestly reporting injuries from City is dodgy at best, not to mention insulting professionally because of the lack of factual information and the reliance on anecdotal phrases. Quite obviously, while this not nearly as serious as a torn ACL it is not a minor tear to the meniscus or his return would be considerably quicker.
